Inspector Goole calls unexpectedly on the prosperous Birling family at a celebratory dinner party to investigate the death of one of Birling and Company’s workforce.
Subsequent developments question the responsibility of each member of the Birling family for this event.
All three acts, which are continuous, take place in the dining room of the Birling’s house in Brumley, a northern industrial city on an evening in the Spring of 1912.
