Outline of Play

Fashionable London in the late 1890s. Even for "good" women, love and  marriage can be poles apart. The laws of society are rigid and outward  respectability rules. "Bad" women who have infringed those rules, face a  constant uphill struggle if they are to regain any place in the society which  has rejected them.

The message of the play is perhaps that in the end, good and evil, are not so easily separated as we might like to suppose.
